Nationally Broadcast on HDNET
ROBBIE LEPPZER - Director, Producer, Interviewer, and Editor
Running Time: 44:53
In this special documentary segment, produced for HDNet World Report, a weekly hour-long newsmagazine program, broadcast nationally on HDNet, five U.S. combat veterans share their riveting personal accounts from the frontlines of the Iraq War.
In the first part of SOLDIER STORIES, these veterans describe what led them to join the military and what it was like for them to engage in combat in Iraq. They speak graphically about the brutal realities of the war on the ground and it’s impact on fellow U.S. soldiers and Iraqi civilians. They describe harrowing ordeals where they didn’t know friend from foe, where civilians caught in the middle all too often paid the ultimate price.
The second part of SOLDIER STORIES portrays these same veterans on the streets of Washington, DC in their current activism both for and against the Iraq War. Members of Iraq Veterans Against The War are shown engaging in guerrilla street theater and marching to the Pentagon calling for an end to the war, while members of Vets For Freedom are filmed lobbying their Congressional representatives to continue the Iraq mission.
SOLDIER STORIES is a stirring testimony about the human consequences of war from those who have experienced it first-hand. Filmed in HD.
